At Old Loughtonians we are currently running 5 ladies teams. Our 1st team play in the England Hockey League, Women's Conference East and Division 2 in the Indoor League. Our 2nd team play in the East League and our other teams play in the Essex Leagues. We also have a thriving youth section which helps to feed all of our ladies teams.
Ladies 1s - 2010/2011 Season:
The ladies first team has gone through a lot of transition over the last twelve months. Losing six long term players (including captain Miranda Weeks), the ladies squad has faced a tough first half of the season, relying on younger players in the squad much more than in previous years.
The first team squad have been lucky to attract a number of new players to the club this year, including a number of overseas players, all of whom have folded into the team well. Two of the squads younger players have both stepped up to the mark during the first half of the season and have repeatedly shown their class and calibre on the field.
The tone of the team is more united this year, with the mutual understanding that results can only be achieved with tenacity, desire, passion and team work. Each week the squad gain momentum, as both individuals and as a team, and the improvements that have been made since August are inspiring.
All the ladies teams have performed well in recent seasons and will be looking to build on this over the year. The 1st team will be aiming to cement their place in the Womens Conference East. The 2nd team are aiming for promotion to the East Premier League and to enjoy another good year in the England Hockey 2nd XI Cup. The third team will also be driving for promotion, with 4th and 5th teamslooking to develop their players. Our youth squads will aim to win the Essex Indoor and show their skillsin the cup competitions.
