Ladies Hockey

At Old Loughtonians during the winter season 2012/13 we are currently running 5 ladies teams. Our 1st team play in the England Hockey League, Women's Conference East and Division 2 in the Indoor League. Our 2nd team play in the East League and all our other teams play in the Essex Leagues.  We also have 2 ladies teams playing in indoor leagues; the Ladies XI in the national league and everyone else gets the opportunity to play in the Essex indoor league.  For those who want to meet our male counterparts on the pitch we also offer access to a very social-able mixed team who play on Sundays throughout the season in the Essex league and national cup competition.  We also have a thriving youth section in all age groups which helps to feed all of our ladies teams. If you are still wanting more after this we also offer a summer league experience so you can play hockey all year long!

If you want to give training a go or find out more information please contact Sue Row on 07805566846 or by email sue_row366@hotmail.com.

2012/2013 Season:

Ladies 1s - The ladies first team has gone through a lot of transition over the last twelve months. Losing many experienced and talented players and on the back of a tough season last year, they welcome the new season with vigour and enthusiasm.  Sarah Smith captains the team again this season and with the introduction of their new coach, Royce Waters they welcome many faces old and new.

The tone of the team is more united this year, with the mutual understanding that results can only be achieved with tenacity, desire, passion and team work. Each week the squad I am sure will gain momentum, as both individuals and as a team, and the improvements that have been made since July are inspiring.  Although the pre-season slog continues.

Ladies 2s Following an unlucky demotion last year this young team looks to gather pace in the new season, ably captained again by Elena Kaltsas, their team spirit is sure to win through!

Ladies 3s – under the new captaincy of Rachel Vokes and their new coach, this team is sure to go from strength to strength this season.  I am sure this team will be hunting for promotion if possible.

Ladies 4s are in the same league as the Ladies 5s this season.  The experienced and tactically aware 4th XI ably captained by Julie Warrick-Munday, will be sure to be hunting for promotion however they will be challenged by the younger and more mobile 5th XI who I am sure will be nipping at their heels.  I am sure when they meet in the league this will be a game to watch.

The 5th XI also offer an opportunity for our newbies and returners to hockey; who are offered a nice introduction from a welcoming team.  However we have a large and varied club so there is a space for everyone!  Still reading? get in touch or come down to meet us – you are sure to love hockey!
