02.02.10 - U18 BOYS TRIUMPH AT NATIONAL INDOOR CLUB FINAL IN NOTTINGHAM

Old Loughtonians Hockey Club U18s won the age group National Indoor Club Championship by beating local side Beeston 6-1on 31st January 2010. The game was nip and tuck for the first ten minutes with both goalkeepers being called into action but first blood went to Old Loughts with a fantastic piece of individual skill from Harry Kempe who made it 1-0. This was quickly followed by another Harry Kempe goal and with further strikes from Liam Peoples and Harry Martin the Chigwell side was 4-0 up at half time. The second half did not have the same level of pacey entertainment as the first but Matt Lewis netted Old Loughts fifth with a powerful flick from a penalty corner and Harry (I don’t really like indoor hockey!) Kempe completed his hat trick a minute later by firing home after rounding the Beeston keeper. Perry Foster in the Old Loughts goal made a string of good saves but with two minutes from time Beeston scored a consolation goal making the final score 6-1.

The squad was: Perry Foster (Goalkeeper), Adam Miller, Rob Bloss, Harry Martin, George Lilley, Mitchell Jones (Captain), Sam Spencer, Steve Edwards, Liam Peoples, Harry Kempe, Tom Wilson. Coach – Chris Gladman and Jan Lilley. Manager – Martin Williams.
