03.03.10 - LEAGUE RESULTS

Congratulations to the Mens 2s who secured promotion to the Higgins Group London Premier League this weekend with a 1-0 victory over local rivals Chelmsford. The Mens 4XI played at home against Richmond Stags. With a number of key players missing so Albert Padfield and Sean Holmes from the Academy sides stepped up to assist. Both ran rings around the experienced Richmond players and helped the team coached by Chris Gladman to a 6-3 victory. It was an end to end game for the Gunners against Tulse Hill Tornadoes. The Gunners went 2-1 ahead but a last minute goal line cross by TH saw the game levelled to 2-2. However, the Gunners were to be commended given there were a few last minute drop outs and they only had 11 players. In the other men’s London League matches the 3rds (Foresters) suffered their first defeat since October losing to H&W 5ths at home 2-1 (see website for full report). Aftab Rajput (Supervets Captain) was pleasently surprised on Saturday when he had 15 players turn up all on time at Richmond for a 10.00am start. The Vets started the game at a gallop and were 2 up in the first 10 minutes. The home team came back strongly and leveled the score at 2-2 in the next 7 minutes. Then Old Loughts Old Boys struck back before the half time whistle going 4-3 up. The second half started with Loughts dominant and they went on to score 2 more goals to take a 5-2 lead. The home team scored in the last five minutes to reduce the lead to 2. The final score 5-3 was a great win for Loughts.

In the East Leagues the Woodsmen lost at home 5-2 to Crostyx but the Academy 2 side had a 7-0 victory away at Colchester. The Ladies 2s lost 1-0 at Stevenage. East League tables can be found at: http://www.east-hockey.co.uk/leagues/league.asp

Finally in the Essex leagues the Ladies 3rds beat Crostyx 2-0 at home; 4ths lost at Old Southendians 6-1 and 5ths lost at home 4-1 to Redbridge & Ilford. League tables at: http://www.essexcha.co.uk/Public/LeagueResults.php
