13.04.10 - U16 BOYS SECURE MERCIAN PLAY OFF POSITION:
Last Sunday the U16 Boys made the journey along the M40 to Oxford to take on the winners of the NW League, Oxford Hawks in the regional quarter finals of the Mercian League. With some of our key players missing due to injury and holiday commitments the boys took to the field and played with a great team spirit and some great play. They were all over the home side for most of the first half. Two sublime penalty flicks from Stephen Naven (one in each half) saw them safely in the lead when the Hawks bit back making the score 2 - 1 with 15 minutes to go. Without doubt Perry Foster in the Loughts goal stood up to the challenge and produced some phenomenal saves when needed and was undoubtedly player of the match. Next week sees the boys play in the semi finals against East Grinstead at home.
