Latest News

20.04.10 - BOYS AND GIRLS U12s BOTH PROGRESS TO NATIONAL FINALS:

Following their previous win in the Essex Championships, the U12 girls represented Essex in the East Finals in Norfolk. After qualifying in the preliminary rounds the girls proceeded in to the group stages of the competition where the subsequent winners looked to secure a place in the final. The team played well with the capable midfield trio of Alisha Evans, Ella Day and Emma Albery distributing and closing down the opposition well. Both games were won in the group stage with 3-0 and 2-0 victories, leaving them in the final against Canterbury. The final was extremely close with Hannah Leiper in goal producing some fine saves until Lucy Price dribbled down the wing past the opposition and crossed to Megan Brooks to score before half time, putting Old Loughts into the lead. Monika Johal and Chloe Joarder secured the defence well until Canterbury equalised with 3 minutes to go. The game finished a draw and left the match to be decided on penalty strokes. It was Old Loughts who scored all three penalties and secured the final win 4-2 to take the Winners medal and shield. The squad now represent the East region in the National Finals on 16th May in Nottingham.
