20.04.10 - BOYS AND GIRLS U12s BOTH PROGRESS TO NATIONAL FINALS:
Despite fielding a very young squad the U12 boys have also made the National Finals. The boys started against a very strong Cambridge City side who had previously beaten them on two occasions this year but held their nerve and discipline to win the opening and most difficult of the league matches 1-0. From then on it was formula hockey sweeping away the opposition to score 16 goals and concede only two to win the group and progress to the next round. In the semi final they beat Hertford 7-0 and Pelicans 2-0 to set up a final against a very strong Bury St. Edmunds side. The final proved one match too far for tired legs narrowly losing 2-1 to a goal in the dying minutes in a match that could have gone either way but the boys progress to the National finals in the runners-up position. The boys all contributed and played some excellent hockey above their years.
