02.06.10 - U13 GIRLS AT ALLIANCE MINI LEAGUE FESTIVAL:
Whilst our U12 Girls were competing so successfully at the National Championships, the U13 girls had a successful afternoon at the Alliance League Festival and came out on top in their group. The first match was against Saffron Walden and finished 0-0 although the girls were unlucky not to pinch a goal or two as they dominated play and the goal keeper, Sarah Chamberlain, did not have a save to make. In the next match, two goals by Hannah Sydenham and one from Lizzy Wroblewski helped them to a 3-0 victory against old rivals, Chelmsford. They then finished by beating the previously undefeated Blue Hornets in the deciding fixture 2-1, with a goal each for Hannah and Lizzy. Everyone performed well. Imogen Padwick and Lucia Corry were very impressive in defence. Katherine Hough, Lizzy Wroblewski, Lily Fox and Odette Clark excelled in midfield and Hannah Sydenham showed good composure in front of goal. Behind them, Sarah Chamberlain did all that was asked of her and conceded just one goal in three matches. This was the last such festival for a number of the older players and they went out on a high, helping the club to victory overall. Special thanks to the new managerial partnership for the day of Sally Wroblewski and Chris Sydenham.
