We currently run 3 sides linked to age at U18, U16 and U14. All these sides are entered into the respective Mercian Leagues, and continues to develop the Youth from the grounding they have in our mini hockey teams (aged 7 to 13). As with the girls we are pleased to welcome boys to the Club at any age, and are proud that the Club and youth reputation is such that we have a wide geographical hinterland.
We also enter an U16 and U18 team in the England Hockey Association Indoor Competitions where our U18 side has been particularly successful over the last 2 years having qualified for the National Championships at Kidderminster. Additionally we enter the England Hockey Association (EHA) Cup at U18 and U15 level, with the U18s reaching the Plate Final last year and the U15s reaching the Quarter finals of their competition.
Coaching is available for all the Boys Colts presently on a Monday evening between 6.30p.m. and 8.00p.m. These sessions are staffed by fully qualified coaches. We also have a full communication line between the Colts Coaches and the respective adult team Captains to ensure the Colts develop through the adult sides at an appropriate time. At this stage the Colts are also encouraged to train with their respective adult teams.
Many of our players have gone on to represent Essex County (where this year Old Loughtonians have provided in excess of 30% of the squad for each of the Essex age groups), East Region and their Country.
Players of all standards are welcome as our underlying objective is that each and every one of the Colts enjoys their hockey - please accept this as an open invitation to come and see us.
In terms of our achievements, this season has started well for the U18s where they are Essex Indoors Champions, Runners Up in the East Region and fifth in the National Indoor Championships having been just pipped at the post for a semi final place. The U16s have only played a couple of games in the Mercian League but have alrady registered a goals scored tally of 32 against a goals against of 2. The U14s are also holding a steady position in their League and have assisted the U15s to the fourth round of the EHA Cup.
