We currently run an U15 and an U18 team.
The majority of girls start playing in our mini hockey teams (aged 7 to 13) and then progress to the U15 squads. We are pleased to welcome girls to the club at any age and have recruited many new players at all ages over the past few years.
The U18 Team
The U18 team is the last bastion of junior hockey. All of the girls involved play in the Ladies section of the club, spread between the Ladies 1's and Ladies 3's. Although training is not as structured as the younger colts, the girls are encouraged to attend Ladies training on a Wednesday evening from 7:30pm until 9:30pm.
For the 2010/2011 season the U18 girls will be competing in the Home Counties League, EHL Cup and EHL Indoor tournament.
This season four members of the U18 squad were selected for the Saxon Tigers U18 team, with two of the girls going on to achieve international honours. Three members of the squad were also selected for the Saxon Tigers U17 team.
All of the girls have attended the JRPC regional training centres and have represented Essex at their relevant age level.
The U15 Team
Coaching is available for U15’s on a Thursday night from 7pm to 8:30. Older girls train with the ladies on Wednesday nights from 7:30 till 9:30. Training is also available via the Academy on a Tuesday night. All these sessions are staffed by qualified coaches.
Many of our players have gone on to represent Essex County, the East and their country.
Players of all standards are welcome; please join us at a training session.
In recent years we have enjoyed a high level of success in the national and regional competitions, which we will aim to continue this year. The season has started well with the U15’s coming 2nd in the Essex Indoor League and the U18’s winning the Essex indoor.
